According to the Hong Kong Immigration Ordinance, a teacher (defined as an employee) is required to show a Hong Kong Identity Card and / or travel document by virtue of which he/she is lawfully employable and submit a copy of the document to HKU SPACE (the employer) for record. If a teacher is not a Hong Kong permanent resident (i.e. do not possess Hong Kong permanent Identity Card) and will take appointment offered by HKU SPACE, he/she should apply for a work visa before the appointment commences.
